I love Open Books because they have such interesting books. They have topics that lots of people like but books that I don't often see. The prices are also amazing. Don't forget to visit upstairs! There's a lot up here.

I LOVE OPEN BOOKS! It was my first time going to this location. I’ve been to the one in west loop which I might like more bc it felt better organized. the signs here for each section were a little small and sometimes i couldnt find them. but they do have an upstairs with a couch and everyone’s friendly. best prices and best selection in the city. i spent $30 for 4 books which would have each cost at least $17 each at a new book store. i love it. cant wait to go back

Open Books is my favorite bookstore in Chicago! The staff here is incredible and the selection is always awesome. The Logan square store has the best set up and I always make a point to come here when I’m in the area.

I love it here and to be blunt I could probably spend days here just browsing through all the great books they have! This was the first Open Books I had ever been to and I was loved the whole experience. I'm a big fan of comics and was thrilled to see they had a large section dedicated to trade paperbacks and collected editions. I was thrilled to find books I had been looking to find forever that were out of print. They had Volumes 1-4 of Angel: After the Fall and best of all they were the hardcover versions. The even better news is that the prices were incredibly reasonable for each volume. But its not just trades they had. There were two floors full of books. Fiction, mystery, biographies and more. There's so much here. Even better you can look for books on their web-site ahead of time. But let's be honest its probably more fun to just browse and see what treasures you can find.

Really excellent book store. They’ve got books of all genres, vintage and brand new. Well organized and decently friendly staff. Worth a stop in whenever you’re in the area.

I love Open Books! I usually frequent the west loop location but I’m so glad I trekked up to the Logan Square location! The selection definitely varied and the atmosphere of the store was more spacious. I think the pricing is always fair so it’s a great way to buy books in a more sustainable way!

A heaven for book store lovers! Used and new books in a well organized, spacious, quiet, clean atmosphere. Remember to check out the upstairs! There are a seats throughout the store, too but this is a spot to browse, buy and go. Enjoy!

A great used and new bookstore with an enormous, varied selection. All of the books are in clean, near-perfect condition in a bright, welcoming, inviting store…no musty, dusty books here! The staff is beyond amazing, going above and beyond! I am so happy I stopped in!

I visited Open Books Logan Square recently and was pleasantly surprised — it’s a great addition to the neighborhood’s book scene. The store is nonprofit-run, and proceeds go toward literacy programs in Chicago, which gives your purchase extra meaning. What I liked: • Varied and affordable selection: There’s a solid mix of used and new books, many in very good condition, and at approachable prices. • Spacious layout: The store covers about 4,300 square feet and feels open — easy to browse without feeling cramped. • Community feel and mission: Knowing that sales support after-school and literacy initiatives adds purpose to the visit. • Friendly staff and events: They host book events, small concerts, etc., which helps make it more than just a retail space. What could improve: • Accessibility: Some areas upstairs or more tucked-away shelves might be harder to reach for folks using mobility aids. One reviewer noted steep stairs. • Signage / organization: In a few spots, the categorization between new/used or genre sections could be clearer — I wandered a bit before finding what I was after. • Atmosphere consistency: It’s warm overall, but I felt some parts of the store were better lit and more comfortably arranged than others. Other notes: • Hours are 10:30 am to 6:00 pm every day. • You can donate books here (no more than 4 boxes per donation at this location) during the same hours. • They recently updated the layout to improve accessibility and browsing flow. Overall: a meaningful, community-oriented bookstore that’s well worth a stop if you love books and want to support literacy work in Chicago. Next time I’m in Logan Square, I’ll definitely pop back in.

Wonderful cozy bookstore! They have an actual sliding ladder you can use to get books from the top shelf, and their selection is pretty well organized! Also has a nice reading nook upstairs that’s great to relax in
